The PET/CT is considered as one of the most efficient imaging systems of today. It is particularly used in the field of oncology, for tumor detection, determining the degree of differentiation of the tumor, radiotherapy planning, assessing the response of treatment, and in some cases for determining if the mass is benign or malignant.
As PET/CT imaging allows simultaneous screening of the whole body, it enables determining whether or not the disease has spread to other organs. It is also effective for identifying epileptogenic, in neurologic cases such as Alzheimer’s disease, and in detection of viable heart tissues following a heart attack.
